Organized by the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCCI), co-organized by Ipoh City Council, and supported by the Perak Tourism Board, the Octagon Mid-Autumn Festival was successfully held on the evening of 4 October 2025, at Jalan Theatre beside the Wisma Octagon.
YB Loh Sze Yee, Perak State Executive Council Member was the Guest of Honour, while Tuan Ahmad Munir bin Ishak, Ipoh City Council Secretary who was the representative of Ipoh Mayor, YBhg. Tuan Zamakhshari Bin Hanipah attended as Special Guest.
During the event, YB Loh Sze Yee announced an RM15,000 grant to PCCCI for its ongoing activities. The mock cheque was received by President Dato’ Liew Chee Ming, witnessed by Ipoh City Council Secretary Tuan Ahmad Munir bin Ishak, PCCCI Deputy President Mr. Tan Sin Cheng, Vice-President Mr. Yap Kean Lye, Secretary-General Mr. Chong Wei Lik, and Organizing Chairman Ir. Ong Kean Sing.
The event programmes included the 24 Festive Drums, song and dance performances, lion dance, children’s colouring contest, cosplay contest, lantern-making contest, and a festive lantern parade. A large crowd gathered to enjoy the evening’s festivities, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere throughout the night.
Dato’ Liew Chee Ming, Mr. Tan Sin Cheng, Mr. Chong Wei Lik, Ir. Ong Kean Sing, and Mr. Au Wai Yeen presented prizes to the winners of the children’s colouring contest, cosplay contest, and lantern-making contest.
The public carried a variety of lanterns, slowly walking under the moonlight to create a warm and enchanting scene. Visitors enjoyed wonderful cultural performances while basking in the joy of reunion, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere.
Among the attendees were Ipoh City Councillors Tang Cheng Wei, Lee Tze Hoo, Ng Haen Vee, and Mohamed Helmi; as well as PCCCI Central Committees Mr. Tan Chong Seng, Mr. Low Heng Keat, Ir. Loh Ban Ho, Mr. Liew Yu-Gene, Mr. Tan Kin Wai, Mr. Loh Kok Hua, Mr. Loh Ban John, Mr. Cheong Chee Choon, Ms. Koay Sui Sen, Mr. Tan Tiean Seng, Mr. Wong Lean Fatt, Ms. Ang Chan Moy, and Mr. Liew Wan Gun.
Special thanks go to the 20 members of the PCCCI Youth Committee, who volunteered to help maintain public order and distributed 300 free lanterns and 500 mooncakes to the public.
