2026 New Year Message
Dato’ Liew Chee Ming
President, Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry
At this joyful moment of bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the new, when everything is renewed, I would like to extend, on behalf of the PCCCI, my sincerest New Year greetings to the people of our nation, especially to the business community in the State of Perak. May everyone enjoy good health, continued success in their careers, family happiness, and prosperity in the year 2026.
Reflecting on the past year, the global economic environment remained full of challenges. Nevertheless, through the joint efforts of the government and the people, our country has demonstrated strong resilience and vitality. The national economy has gradually recovered, investment confidence has improved, and society has remained stable and harmonious—achievements that have not come easily. Looking ahead to the new year, we sincerely hope that the nation’s economy will continue to prosper, business confidence will be further strengthened, and the people’s quality of life will continue to improve, as we move together toward a future filled with greater hope and opportunity.
Looking ahead to 2026, the State of Perak stands at a critical juncture in its development. With adjustments in regional economic planning and the promotion of national industrial policies, Perak possesses a unique geographical advantage, a well-developed transportation network, and abundant human and land resources, providing favorable conditions for its growth as an “industrial state.” We hope the state government will actively seize industrial development trends, accelerate the planning of industrial parks, attract high value-added and high-tech industries, and promote the transformation and upgrading of small and medium-sized enterprises, thereby building a more competitive and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
The business community should also keep pace with the times by actively embracing digitalization, automation, and the green economy, strengthening innovation and talent development, and working hand in hand with the government to optimize and upgrade Perak’s industrial structure, thereby injecting greater momentum into the state’s economy.
At the same time, 2026 also presents an important opportunity as the “Malaysia Tourism Year.” Perak boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage as well as abundant natural attractions—from mountains and lakes to heritage sites and local cuisine—each with its own unique appeal. We hope the state government and relevant agencies will actively promote tourism in Perak, enhance the quality of facilities and services, strengthen branding and international marketing, so that more domestic and international visitors can discover, experience, and fall in love with Perak.
The development of tourism not only drives related industries such as food and beverage, retail, transportation, and accommodation, but also creates more employment and business opportunities for local SMEs and young entrepreneurs, forming a positive cycle that further promotes the prosperity of the local economy.
The Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry will, as always, uphold its mission of uniting the business community and serving society. It will continue to act as a bridge between the government and the business sector, actively convey industry perspectives, promote the implementation of policies favorable to economic development, and strengthen cooperation and exchanges across all sectors, contributing together to the development of Perak and the nation.
A new year brings new hope. Let us join hands, pooling our wisdom and strength, seeking progress through stability and opportunities through change, and together usher in a new chapter of national prosperity and the continued development of Perak.
Wishing
for favorable weather and a thriving economy in 2026, with national prosperity and the well-being of the people!
