

“Gerbang Perniagaan Paloh” was officially inaugurated on 14 January 2023 and 17 February 2023 respectively, at Jalan Theatre and Jalan Mustapha Al-Bakri in Ipoh. Both opening ceremonies received an enthusiastic response from the community, attracting many community leaders, business elites, and members of the public to attend and jointly celebrate this milestone moment of significant importance.




The conference had the privilege of welcoming distinguished guests to each of the two opening ceremonies:
On 14 January 2023, the opening ceremony of “Gerbang Perniagaan Paloh” (商坊) featured YB Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia, as the guest of honour. Meanwhile, the opening ceremony of “Gerbang Perniagaan Paloh” (德坊), held on 17 February 2023, was officiated by H.E. Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Malaysia.
The completion of the“Gerbang Perniagaan Paloh” archways is not only a project to beautify the cityscape but also a tribute to and continuation of the local history and culture. The design of the archways integrates traditional and modern elements, showcasing the cultural characteristics of the Chinese community, while adding prominent landmarks to Ipoh’s New Town, becoming a new hotspot for both residents and visitors to take photos.
The project is also regarded as an important initiative to promote urban revitalization and the rejuvenation of commercial districts. By optimizing public spaces and enhancing cultural landmarks, it helps stimulate surrounding business activities, increase tourism appeal, and further drive local economic development. PCCCI President, Dato’ Liew Chee Ming, stated that Perak already has iconic archways such as the Gerbang Malam night market entrance in New Town and the Little India archway in Old Town.With the addition of “Gerbang Perniagaan Paloh”, the state now further enriches its collection of cultural and commercial landmarks.



Stepping into “Gerbang Perniagaan Paloh”, visitors can experience the rich charm of traditional Chinese culture while also appreciating the unique multicultural character of Malaysia. Chinese and Malaysian elements merge here to create a cultural atmosphere rich in history and local character, making visitors feel as if they are in an artistic hall that promotes mutual understanding and cultural exchange.
“Gerbang Perniagaan Paloh” is expected to become a new landmark in Ipoh, enhancing the cityscape while injecting fresh vitality and development opportunities into the local business districts.
